icouldbe.org’s New Initiatives
Because of our success in reaching at-risk youth from low-income communities with life changing programs, icouldbe.org has grown to serve students all over the country. As we grow, we look to reach students with special interests and needs around the world.
Some of our new initiatives include:
- International Programs: Looking to Africa and beyond, we seek to connect underprivileged youth with volunteers from their own countries, providing educational planning and career exploration in line with their goals and interests.
- Serving Children with Disabilities: We are preparing our program platform to be accessible to children with a broad array of special needs and recruiting mentors who face similar challenges.
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM): Responding to the focused interests of students in STEM-focused schools, we are working with partners to build content, curricula and activities.
- Embracing New Technologies: Bringing web 2.0 functionalities to e-mentoring allows mentors and mentees to interact in dramatic new ways and maximize the mentoring experience.
- Youth Organizations, Alumni Networking and Affinity Groups: E-mentoring programs customized and managed by icouldbe.org encourage social networking and grow organizations.
If you’re interested in supporting our programs or working with us to develop new initiatives, please contact icouldbe.org’s Executive Director Kate Schrauth (kate@icouldbe.org or +1-646-734-8133).
