Growing icouldbe.org

In 2000, Adam Aberman’s experience as an inner-city educator prompted him to found icouldbe.org to address growing disparities in students’ access to educational opportunities and career guidance. icouldbe.org seeks to address three issues critical to the success of low-income middle and high school students today:

  1. To combat the loss of career and educational guidance programs;
  2. To address the dropout crisis in the US and the lack of access to formal education in the developing world;
  3. To re-imagine the delivery of high-impact mentoring programs using emergent technologies in school-based settings with highly skilled, successful and caring adults acting as mentors.

Since 2000, icouldbe.org has successfully served over 10,000 students nationally and in 2008–2009 we will work with over 2,500 students from across the world. As we expand, our new initiatives seek to reach increasing numbers of students with our award-winning program.
