![]() The Power of E-MentoringNew evidence from social science researchers at Drexel University indicates icouldbe.org’s e-mentoring program has many of the benefits of face-to-face mentoring – an exciting finding for social networking and youth intervention programs online. Like face-to-face mentoring, mentors share personal experiences, offer professional and career advice, and support their students. The benefits a young person gains depend on the strength and consistency of the mentor-mentee relationship: the more students engage with their online mentors, the better their ability to cope and succeed in school and life. Our innovative curriculum allows students to create a customized set of self-paced activities reflecting their individual college and career interests while providing for constant, open dialogue and debate with their mentors through collaborative educational activities, personal emails and community discussion boards. More than two-thirds of students surveyed by Drexel University said their participation in the icouldbe.org program helped them during the academic year and that they would participate again in the future. |
