Kate Schrauth, Executive Director Kate Schrauth, Executive Director. Kate joined icouldbe.org in 2003 as a member of the Board of Directors. Later that year she was elected as the Chair of the Board, a position she held until 2006. In 2006 the Board named Kate the Executive Director with the primary responsibility of managing and growing icouldbe.org to serve thousands of students throughout the US. With over 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Ms. Schrauth has created and led youth organizations and programs including Founder and Director of Artists for Humanity, and has held positions at leading organizations including Jumpstart, New School University and Harvard University.


M. Michelle Derosier, Director of Programs, is the chief relationship manager, recruiter, trainer and retention specialist for mentors, students and teachers for all icouldbe.org programs. As a JP Morgan Chase Fellow at Fordham University, Michelle earned a Certificate for Mentoring Supervisor. Michelle received a BA in psychology from SUNY New Paltz and a MA in Organizational Leadership with a certificate in Servant Leadership from Gonzaga University.


Elizabeth Lang, East Coast Program ManagerElizabeth Lang, East Coast Program Manager is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the organization's school partnerships. Liz was inspired by icouldbe.org's innovative approach of fostering meaningful relationships that strengthen a student's academic appreciation and self-confidence. Previous experiences include interning for Rush Philanthropic and CUE Art Foundation, non-profits dedicated to providing and supporting an artistic educational environment for disadvantaged youth. Elizabeth is a recent graduate of the University of Delaware earning a bachelor degree in Psychology and Fine Art.

Wendy Siegelman, Senior Grant Writer, is a grant writer and internet product and marketing expert with experience in the financial and publishing industries. Wendy was Director of Product Management at Dow Jones Inc. where she led a team responsible for delivering Newswires and Wall Street Journal news through web-based products to the wealth management segment. Prior to that she was Vice President of Content and Product Development at Pershing LLC, a Bank of New York Company. Wendy was co-owner and Executive Publisher of Art Asia Pacific Magazine and held various positions at the American Stock Exchange and the NASD/Nasdaq including Equities Research Analyst and Director of Marketing. Wendy developed the arts website www.creativityfuse.com and is writing her first novel. Wendy graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in Studio Art.


Jerry Steward, Senior Program Manager West CoastJerry Steward, Senior Program Manager West Coast, is a retired teacher who has used icouldbe in her classroom for years; she loves working with students and teachers and really sees the benefits of online mentoring for students, she has seen this program shape the future of her students first hand.

Jerry has a business background and has been in management for several years. Feeling the need for real life experience in the classroom she decided to go into teaching and taught for 13 years and was career technical department chair. Classes taught include Business Management, International Business, Computer Repair and Entrepreneurship and she was the lead teacher for Highlands Business Academy (A California Partnership Academy). Jerry was very active in district level activities as well, serving on the district technology committee, mentoring new teachers, and serving on the curriculum writing committee for Career Technical classes.

Ms. Steward went to Junior High and High School in the same district in which she taught and retired from. She never strayed far, attending American River College and obtaining her teaching credential at Sacramento State University.

Retired from teaching, icouldbe is a perfect fit that brings together all her loves, working with students, teachers, and business people.


Bill Silverman, Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for the development and maintenance of the icouldbe.org website and database. Bill has a BS in Physics from SUNY Stony Brook and has over 12 years of programming experience working with online communities, including many non-profits. He has developed dozens of websites and desktop applications that use SQL server, MS Access and MySQL databases.
