The above units are blue because they are prerequisites.  That means that you have to take the blue units in a path before you take the elective units below.

How To Create Your Own Path

For some people, our suggested paths may seem too specific. You may want to learn about careers and how to understand credit cards. Or you may want to explore college options while focusing on teamwork and community service. For mentees who have a very specific idea of what they want to get out of our program, we have made it possible to create individual paths. This page will explain the guidelines of this process.

The easiest way to create your own path is to change the electives that you plan to take. To do this, you must still take the prerequisites of whatever path interests you most and then select from the field of possible electives. What you need to know is that there are two types of electives. Path-Specific Electives can only be accessed by mentees who have taken the prerequisites on that specific path these electives are displayed in white boxes underneath the blue prerequisites that unlock them. Universal Electives are unlocked as soon as you complete the prerequisites of any path. Universal electives are displayed separately in yellow boxes.

A more difficult way to create your own path is to take prerequisite units from several different paths. This is permissible; but you will still need to complete a full set of prerequisites before any electives are unlocked.

These white boxes are Path-Specific Electives: You can only access these electives if you have taken the prerequisites that are directly above them.

These yellow boxes are Universal Electives: As soon as you have completed the prerequisites for ANY of the four paths, all of these universal electives become possible options.
